AMD Ryzen 5 4500U Mobile Processors with Radeon Graphics

The AMD Ryzen 5 4500U is a low-power mobile processor intended for thin and light laptops launched in January 2020. The 4500U comes with 6 integrated cores and 6 threads, without SMT support. They are clocked at 2.3GHz base and 4.0GHz turbo boost frequency along 3MB and 8MB L2 and L3 cache respectively; all operating at a default TDP of 15W and a configurable TDP ranging between 10-25W. Its successor, the AMD Ryzen 5 4600U includes SMT support, runs 12 threads simultaneously, and overall has better performance.

It is worth noting that all chips in the Ryzen 4000 series are based on the Zen 2 architecture. The only difference is in the upgrades they have over previous generations of mobile APUs; that is, increase in core/thread count, clock frequency, and the layout of the integrated graphics, all of which depend on the model of the processor. For example, AMD Ryzen 3 4300U, which is the predecessor to Ryzen 5 4500U, has only four cores and a slightly lower performance because of its lower clock frequency and core count.

Furthermore, Ryzen 5 4500U is designed using TSMC’s 7nm technology and has an integrated AMD Radeon Vega 6 graphics operating at 1500MHz. Other additional features supported by Ryzen 5 4500U include DDR4 and LPDDR4 operating at a maximum frequency of 3200MHz and 4266MHz respectively.
