AMD Ryzen 7 4800H Mobile Processors with Radeon Graphics

The AMD Ryzen 7 4800H is a mobile System on Chip (SoC) processor that was released by AMD in January 2020 for big laptops. The 4800H processor has eight physical cores designed using high-performance Zen 2 microarchitecture. The cores support simultaneous multithreading technology implementing 16 threads only and operate at a base clock of 2.9GHz to 4.2GHz turbo boost frequency. This chip, which is based on Renoir architecture, is manufactured using TSMC’s 7nm technology which partly doubles its performance per watt, operating at a maximum temperature of 105oC.

The 4800H has a maximum thermal design power (TDP) rating of 45W which can be configured between 35-54W which explains why it is intended for big laptops; with better and efficient cooling systems. The chip also features an integrated AMD Radeon Vega 7 graphics with a core count of 7 that operates at a maximum frequency of 1600MHz.

The processor also comes with a total 4MB L2 cache and 8MB L3 cache and supports DDR4 system type of memory that operates at a frequency of up to 3200MHz. It also supports LPDDR4 that operates up to 4266MHz enabling laptops devices to handle high-powered computing, high-resolution video, larger screen displays, and to enhance user experience all the while maintaining its battery life.

The Ryzen 7 4800H is considered one of the fastest processors released by AMD.  The processor is around 46% faster than Intel’s Core i7-9750H in Cinebench R20 when running the multi-threaded tests, around 5% faster in the single-threaded tests. Compared to AMD Ryzen 7 4800U, the 4800H is 13.49% and 6.64% higher in Geekbench 5 multi-core and single-core performance tests respectively. AMD Ryzen 7 4800H also boasts 1.61x faster processor speed than the Ryzen 7 4800U and is therefore able to handle demanding tasks, gaming, and other graphic-intensive applications.
