AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS Mobile Processors with Radeon Graphics

The AMD Ryzen 7 5900HS is a mobile processor that was released in January 2020 mainly for gaming laptops and/or relatively big laptops, alongside Ryzen 7 5800HS Creator Edition. ASUS company was the only “AMD Ryzen HS-series laptop manufacturer,” but recently, AMD dropped their exclusivity and now the Ryzen 5900HS CPUs will also be featured in Lenovo Yoga laptops; Yoga Slim 7 Pro and Yoga 14S models. Both processors offer a default TDP of 35W of performance and are manufactured using TSMC’s 7nm processing technology.

The AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS is based on a Cezanne die with 8 cores with Hyper-threading technology allowing up to 16 threads running simultaneously. The cores clocked at a base frequency of 3.0GHz that turbo boosts up to 4.6GHz ensuring better performance in carrying out computational tasks over other CPUs. The processor also utilizes the Zen 3 Core architecture with doubled L2 and L3 cache, 4MB and 16MB respectively, and a slightly higher instruction per clock. The processor also comes equipped with 16GB of DDR4-2400 dual-memory channel and LPDDR4 running up to a frequency of 4266MHz with different choices of PCIe 3.0 that can support maximum storage of up to 1TB.

The Ryzen 9 5900HS also incorporates AMD Radeon Graphics that operate at a maximum frequency of 2100MHz, which is +100MHz when compared to the Ryzen 7 5800HS. The 5900HS also offers higher clock frequencies than the 5800HS. However, the 5800HS Creator Editor, just as the name suggests, is earmarked for content creation. The AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS is good for gaming laptops with big screen dimensions (17.3” or lower) along with a display of 1080p or 4K resolution based panels which include G-Sync support to ensure smooth gameplay in addition to certain gaming titles in 4K format. They can also handle smoothly day-to-day activities and demanding tasks on a PC.

Note: The Lenovo laptop devices with the Ryzen HS-series processors are only available in the Asian and European markets, but it’s expected Lenovo will launch these devices globally. Also worth noting is, the Lenovo Yoga 14S is shown to utilize a unique 45W for the Ryzen 7 5800HS model which when activated can provide 75% higher performance per watt compared to 15W processors designed for ultrathin laptops. Besides, the Yoga Slim 7 Pro is aimed at content creators and not for highly intensive graphic qualities.
